My concern is that since IntelliJ debugger hangs when the JRebel agent isn’t used on the remote. This would cause some work flow issue. With Docker I can create a special image that contains the JRebel components.
However, on my customers dev/qa server they do not have JRebel agent on those server. When I remote debug in to these server to figure out what is happening. I have to do the following at the moment.
1. Go into IntelliJ’s plugin section and disable JRebel plugin
2. Restart IntelliJ.
3. Remote debug as usual.
4. When done open plugin to enable JRebel.
5. Restart IntelliJ again.
Wireshark is how I figured out why IntelliJ was hanging when I was trying to remote Debug. It was quite confusing since jdb was working properly, but IntelliJ would just hang when remote debugging. So I compared the 2 Wireshark output for JDB and IntelliJ remote debugging network request.
